Why consider couples therapy — even if things seem “fine”?
You might feel distant, misunderstood, or stuck in the same arguments. Or maybe you’re facing a difficult decision, rebuilding after a rupture, or simply want to strengthen your connection.
Couples therapy isn’t only for those in crisis — it can be a space to slow down, speak honestly, and understand each other more deeply.
Elena Kuzmina, RCC, CCC, RP (Q)
About Me
I’m a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC), Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC), and Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying), with a background in psychology, linguistics, and postsecondary education.
My approach is warm, research-informed, and focused on helping both partners feel respected, heard, and understood. I draw on the Gottman Method, attachment theory, and other evidence-based approaches to support couples through both everyday challenges and deeper relationship strains—whether you're working through patterns of emotional distance, navigating separation, or rebuilding after a rupture.
What To Expect From Online Couples Therapy
I use proven methods like the Gottman Method and Attachment Theory to guide couples toward clearer communication, healthier conflict resolution, and stronger emotional bonds.
We’ll work together to understand what’s getting in the way of connection — whether it’s communication habits, emotional distance, or unresolved hurt.
Couples therapy can help you:
Recognize your patterns: Understand how each of you communicates, reacts, and connects— and where things tend to get stuck.
Break unhealthy cycles: Identify and change patterns of miscommunication, resentment, or emotional distance.
Build practical tools: Learn concrete strategies for more compassionate conversations and better conflict management.
Rebuild trust and intimacy: Address past hurts and strengthen your emotional bond.
Work as a team: I support both partners equally, helping you feel heard and respected, not blamed or judged.
You’ll each have space to share your perspective. I won’t take sides or decide what should happen. Instead, I’ll guide the conversation so it stays constructive and focused on what matters most to both of you.

Frequently Asked Questions
How can I contact you if I have questions?
You can reach out to me through the contact form on my website. I’ll be happy to respond.
Can we do therapy if we live in different places?
Yes. As long as you're both in a province or country where I can legally provide therapy, you can join from separate devices — no need to be in the same room.
How long is each session?
Standard sessions are 50 minutes. If you'd like more time, extended 80-minute sessions are also available.
Do you help couples after infidelity?
Yes. I work with couples who want to process betrayal and rebuild trust — including after infidelity.
Do you only work with romantic couples?
Mostly, yes. But I also support co-parents and other important two-person relationships. If you’re not sure whether we’d be a good fit, contact me.
What if one of us is unsure about therapy?
That’s completely okay. You don’t have to be on the same page to begin. Therapy can help you understand what’s going on — and decide how (or if) you want to move forward together.
Can I start therapy without my partner?
Of course. If your partner is not ready yet, you can begin individual sessions to explore your feelings and needs.
Is therapy covered by insurance?
Psychotherapy is covered by most extended health insurance plans. I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC), a Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC), and a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying). My services may be eligible for reimbursement. Please check with your insurance provider to confirm whether they cover services under these designations.
Do you offer a free consultation?
Yes — I offer a free 20-minute online consultation. It's an opportunity for both of you to ask questions, get a sense of how I work, and decide if this feels like a good fit. You can book your consultation here.
